Week of October 19th 2015
Wow! Where has the time gone? WE are already close to the end of October!! For those of you that have been checking this site regularly I apologize that the updates haven't been more frequent. I promise that will start to change.
The students have been very busy learning. In math we have started to explore place value to 1,000. Students are being asked to think of other ways to look at numbers. For example the number 270 can be thought of as 2 hundreds and 7 tens. However, it can also be thought of as 27 tens! Students have been working with place value blocks to help them with this concept.
In reading we have stared to explore informational text. Students are learning how to identify the features of an informational text and how that will help them understand what the author is trying to say. They have also been exploring the text structure and deciding if it is a casue/effect, description, sequential or problem solution.
Writing is alive with lots of opinions as well as narratives as we continue to write both stories and non-fiction reports.
Be sure to ask your child about the insects in the room! We have 2 different kinds right now and more will be coming as we continue to explore the life cycle in Science!
We had a wonderful assembly last week thanks to our amazing PTO. Check out some photos below!!
DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR RAFFEL TICKETS BY NEXT WEEK!!!!
Have a wonderful week!
